October

Japan skiing is the winter trip. By January, powder travel has become one of the most requested trips we plan. Niseko, Hakuba, and Nozawa Onsen are at their deepest.
New Year sumo runs mid-month at Ryogoku Kokugikan. Land early for hatsumode, the first shrine visits of the year.

Plum blossoms. Ume opens late February at Kairakuen and Kyoto's Kitano Tenmangu. A quiet, low-season preview of spring.
